I Made Wianta
Born in Gianyar, Bali, 1949. I Made Wianta graduated from the Indonesian Art Institute Yogyakarta. In 1976, he studied European Art in Brussels, Belgium, and used the opportunity to visit art galleries and museums. Wianta is known as an energetic artist for his efforts to explore various medium or combining forms of art, such as performance or happening art that involves many people. He also published several books involving international art critics, such as Made Wianta (1990), Made Wianta: Universal Balinese Artist (1999), Made Wianta: Art and Peace (2000), and Wild Dogs in Bali: The Art of Made Wianta (2005).
The painting titled Triangle War (1992), is an abstract painting applying composition of triangles in various shapes and sizes on a blue field that at a glance resembling the sky with glimmering stars. Wianta had participated in various international exhibitions such as in New York, Paris, and Tokyo. But, the most prominent one was his participation in Venice Biennale in 2004. In 2016 he held a solo exhibition in Singapore Art Museum.
