Uji Handoko Eko Saputro

Uji Handoko, born in Magelang, 1983, is an artist that based his artistic practices on observation and critics toward the sociopolitical environment. He graduated from the Faculty of Arts, Indonesian Institute of the Arts, Yogyakarta. He did several group exhibitions in Indonesia and abroad. He was one of the 30 finalists for The 2008 Sovereign Asian Art Prize. With other young artists, he currently established and is active in the Ace House Collective.

For a few times he has been working on the "Speculative Entertainment" project, focusing on the organization of the values of the contemporary art ecosystem. For "Only Shooting Blue Chip Artist" interactive work, he speaks about the alleged way of acquiring art objects according to an investment perspective. The value determined by the artist will continue to grow along with the achievements of his artistic career. Borrowing the term "blue chip" from the process of shares trading, the artist have a strong investment value predicted to gain profit with little risks, and have a stable position in the market.

The second work "Theorem #1-15," question how immaterial values in art, ideas and subjectivity as well as mathematical dimensions of painting dimensions are converted into value for money. Visitors have the right to judge the value of the artwork. The initial price range is the price he recommends by converting his artistic achievements as an artist. Whereas the second price option is the price that is recommended by gallery.
